Impasto Figures |
These studies are of significance because I begin to explore the concept of having abstract backgrounds in my works. Taking inspiration from the psychological intensity found in the paintings of Francis Bacon, I portray a minimalist use of stark line and colour to present the idea of an untouched space, existing only in the imaginary.
The heavy impasto paint is placed over the flat vast background to present the idea of strength and solidity, and the use of unmixed splashes of colour represent my fascination of colour in its purest pigment to achieve an abstracted version of truth behind my sitter’s aura. |
