I studied Fine Art at Lancaster University, and graduated in 2018. I am Currently living and working in Beijing after working in Suzhou for nine months. My current practice depicts the contrast between bright, flat abstract shapes and heavier impasto mark making. Influences from travelling Thailand, Vietnam and Mongolia have began to develop in my studies, particularly the use of gold detailing.
My studies all have an element of solid, vibrant planes of colour, to me this creates an ambiguous space, adding the feeling to the isolation of the figure. The concept of displacement is important in my works, as figures frequently appear offset in bare, minimalist settings drawing upon ideas of fragmentation of persona in an undefinable space. In my works Woman appears fragmented, but also a vibrant, solid, loud force in this space.
Inspiration from recent works has stemmed from my own experiences living in China, many thoughts and feelings depicted in the works are elements of my everyday life, living and working in a new country.
